Here is a good trap against cluster flies...fits on the window sill, catching the flies and acting as quick sand. Flies in the winter become a problem in winter and the colder months in offices and homes and the powder trap seems to be a good tool in the battle against these cluster flies.

Humane mouse trap

The green bottle mouse trap has a cool product that uses old soda bottles and a devise that you attach to to the bottle cap area, allowing the mouse to enter the bottle, but not be able to get back out. This is a great green and humane way to catch mice. Not a bad idea the green bottle USA company came up with.

Ground Nesting Wasp Dust

Any kind of dust that control bees will work to kill ground nesting wasps and bees if inserted in and around the nesting hole. Apicide is a good choice as are others. Treatment of a ground nesting wasp hole is risky and should be handled by a professional.

Small flies are often drain or fruit flies. Here is one company that addresses these buggers with natural bacteria that eat away at the slime and grime that causes the breeding of these flies in the drains. They have a foam product that I think is one of the best ways to treat the drain as it expands and coats the drain walls where this slime builds up.

Japanese Beetle Trap

Japanese beetle traps work to catch the adult beetles that fly around and bother you and your lawn. The best time to place these out would be in Mid-June and to keep them out until the fall. Many of these traps are available online or at your local home store.

Liquid Mouse Bait? Sure. Liqua Tox is perfect in a dry environment like a warehouse where there may be a rodent problem. These need to be set up in special bait dispensers, but it is a highly effect means of control.

Kill boxelders dead

Looking for the perfect silver bullet to get rid of those pesky box elder bugs that seem to over take the sunny side of your building or home? Well I wish I could deliver, but I can't. This problem needs to be dealt with by good old fashioned elbow grease. Inside you need to vacuum them away, outside you need to spray them down with soapy water. Mix up a cup or two of cloths detergent in a gallon sprayer, lightly mix so not to get over run by suds, and spray away. Get them as they cluster in clumps and watch as they fall away dead. Here is an orthoboric acid gel bait that ants can not resist. I think ant gels are the best because they seem to attract ants like a magnet, especially sweet feeding ants. This is one to try for sure.

I still say that termidor is one of the best products out there for termite elimination today. I still have fresh in my head the story I heard at a seminar when they said the termite job that was done on a home also killed the colony several yards away that was feeding on a fire wood pile. Bed Bug Spray

As I look for products for the home owner to help with the control of bedbugs I came across an interesting product from Tallman Scientific called the Bedbug Control Kits. It looks like a good overall comprehensive kit that is in the vein of integrated pest management. It's an overall program and one that looks like it can at least be a good start.

Flea traps

This trap mimics the heat and light that a dog or cat makes. Flea traps work great to verify if you actually have a flea problem. If enough of them are used you can help control these critters. Fleas are no fun, but this trap will help in their control. An A+.

Bee and Wasp Trap

This is the old stand by when it comes to trapping bees, wasps and yellow jackets. It looks like the best bait to get the bees into these traps would be a 50/50 part apple juice concentrate and water.

Optigard ant gel bait

Everyone is looking for the next best thing when it comes to ant control. Ant gel baits seem to the most popular and Optigard is no different. This bait is thicker and clear which is important to application. Very attractive to ants and seems to be getting good reviews so far.

Talpirid Mole Bait

Moles can reek havoc on a person's lawn and there is nothing more frustrating than spending a lot of time and money on your lawn, only to have it ripped up by moles! Who are these creatures of destruction? They feed mostly on insects and love, love, love earthworms. Their appetite is incredible and their metabolism is super high. They are active all year which means they do not hibernate. They breed in late winter or early spring which means you can look for a boost in activity about 10 weeks later. They build tunnels like the English with a primary run, and exploratory run, and deep tunnels. Last but not least. They damage lawns.So how do get rid of them? Well there are all kinds of traps and devises you can uses, but lately there is a product being used by the professional pest controllers called Talpirid from Bell Laboratories. It is a poison bait that mimics an earth worm. One "worm" contains a lethal dose and they are easy to apply. This product is not available at your local hardware store, but pest control operators can get it and it is working like hot cakes! Happy hunting!

Fly control

In a previous entry I reviewed a product by Bayer called Maxforce Fly Spot bait. I used this product myself over the weekend and it looks like it might be the next miracle products to eliminate flies. I used it around a bush that was attracting flies like crazy and minutes after the application they were "dropping like flies" . Great product!

Gypsy Moth Trap

It seems like gypsy moths are all the rage so I thought I'd look into some gypsy moth traps that are available. One that came to mind was the old stand by Gypsy Moth Trap by Safer. It comes with the trap, lure and two bags. The lure lasts 12 weeks. Aside from Chemical treatments I think these traps work fantastically.

Fly Spot Bait by Bayer

Dead flies instantly? Then you will want to look into Bayer's new bait product called Fly Spot. Mix it up in water to spray or as a thicker mixture as a paint and treat the surfaces the flies are landing on most. Not sure where they are hanging out exactly? No fear because the flies will be attracted to the Fly Spot bait and die all the same. Great reviews and buzz about this product.

Advion Ant Arena

Looking for the newest ant product out there. Dupont's ant arena is that product with Indoxicarb being the active ingredient. The reviews are pretty positive at this time and a welcome product in the ant arsenal.

The combination of these two products manufactured by Bayer has been causing alot of stir in the bed bug community! It seems that combining the two during treatment is speeding up the kill time of bed bugs by almost half. This is good news in the fight against bed bugs.

Phantom Bedbug Control

Another fine product for bedbug control as well as roaches and ants is a product called Phantom. It is a non-repellent chemical that the insect walks over unknowingly and tracks it back to the nest which kills off the insects in a domino effect manner. It is now labelled for bed bugs. You have to check your state to be sure it is labelled in it. Definitely a fantastic product.

The Lousebuster

The louse buster uses hot dry air to kill lice. The tube has a comb attached to the end of it and the success rate in studies is very promising. This product is not yet available commercially.

This new product from Bayer is a termiticide in granule form. It's labeled to spot treat on the outside of your home on bare soil or in mulch and places such as that to prevent termites from tunneling up the side of your home. Termiticide has come a long way since the days of cloradane!

This is only a tool in the control of termites and should be used as such, not as the only tool.

Provoke is a product for mice that is used for catching mice on snap traps and glue boards instead of peanut butter or other baits. It is specially formulated by Bell and is producing good results. Mice are running for it like it is prime rib! Just a little dab will do ya. Place a dab on the snap trap trigger and let provoke do the rest. This is a great product to find online at your favorite DIY pest control product website.

CYRONITE

New product being offered in bed bug control as well as other insects using the freeze method where a carbon dioxide snow is used to freeze the bugs to death. It's being marketed as an environmentally friendly devise and some of the big companies are trying it out. This is not a do it yourself product but it is an interesting concept.

PROVOKE MOUSE

Bell lab's new product provoke is the hottest thing since sliced bread when it comes to catching mice! It was formulated to be the most attractive food source for mice and the reports are it's working like a charm. You don't have to be afraid to bait your snap traps with provoke in sensitive areas because it is hyper-allergenic. Peanut butter allergies? Forget about it! Provoke comes in a easy to use squeeze bottle, just put a dab of it on your snap traps, gluetraps or tin cats!

Ultrasonic Mouse Control

I've been asked about the plug in electronic mouse control products out there and what my opinion was on them. There is an example of the many types in the picture to the left. First off my advice would be that if you are going to invest in these for your home then choose the kind where you can change the frequency. Mice will adapt quickly to the high pitched sound and return again. With the ability to switch the frequency, the mice will not be able to adapt and will stay away. Research these a lot before you buy them and look into their warranty. I've heard both success stories and horror stories on this topic, so buy at your own risk.

Stuf-fit

Stuf-fit copper mesh goes by the name stuf-fit, stuffit, stuff it. No matter how you spell it this useful roll of mesh is a great weapon in your rodent proofing arsenal. If you need to stuff a hole or area to keep mice and rats out then stuf-fit copper mesh is for you. Rodents are opportunistic creatures and if the hole is stuffed then it will most likely move on to the area of least resistance. Copper mesh won't rust like steel wool.
