Can't bring a dog on vacation with you to sniff out the bed bugs now can you? We all know that the best thing to do when you enter your hotel room is to plop your bags in the bath tub and begin your inspection, but even professionals have trouble finding bed bugs during a professional inspection. That is why there are K-9 inspections, but this is not practical on vacation. So now there is a product that is a bed bug detection electronic device call a BBD-100. Basically it sucks air in and detects the presence of bed bugs. Not sure how effective this product is, but it is interesting to see the many new products coming to market these days for bed bugs.

Nisus has come out with a great product that kind of acts as a set it and forget it type to tool, containing terro liquid ant bait and niban granule and a gel bait all enclosed in a tidy bait station. Enough product to place a forget about until your next service visit.

There is one place that is best for controlling and eliminating bees, and that is far away. The Dustick duster offers this luxury. Fill the container with your dust of the day...attach the poles, and the pumper tool on the end does the rest. Just stick that duster in the bee hole and dust away. Great product.

Fire ants are nasty and can be dangerous. Using the right product is important when dealing with fire ants and you may want to consider a professional for them. If you are going to try it yourself, use what the pros use. Advion Fire Ant Bait is a bait that claims to gain control in as little as 24 hours.

Drax ant gel is a great product that comes in both protein and sugar. I remember drax from back in the day when it came in the Elmer's glue looking bottle, I loved it then and I love it now. Ants are finicky eaters and being able to bait with both protein and sugar is an advantage in the dual version. A perfect tool to use in your arsenal against ants.

Great product to place snap traps in which allows you to place the covered traps in common areas like counter tops, cabinets, or along the walls safely without worrying about the mess of the snap or kids or pets getting snapped. Kness had a good idea here with the Snap-E Mouse trap covers.

The green bottle mouse trap has a cool product that uses old soda bottles and a devise that you attach to to the bottle cap area, allowing the mouse to enter the bottle, but not be able to get back out. This is a great green and humane way to catch mice. Not a bad idea the green bottle USA company came up with.

Any kind of dust that control bees will work to kill ground nesting wasps and bees if inserted in and around the nesting hole. Apicide is a good choice as are others. Treatment of a ground nesting wasp hole is risky and should be handled by a professional.

Small flies are often drain or fruit flies. Here is one company that addresses these buggers with natural bacteria that eat away at the slime and grime that causes the breeding of these flies in the drains. They have a foam product that I think is one of the best ways to treat the drain as it expands and coats the drain walls where this slime builds up.

Japanese beetle traps work to catch the adult beetles that fly around and bother you and your lawn. The best time to place these out would be in Mid-June and to keep them out until the fall. Many of these traps are available online or at your local home store.

Phantom in a can. It's about time. Easy to carry...easy to use. The new formulation dries in crystals to set up better on porous surfaces. Glad to see that BASF developed this fantastic product in the can form. Kills ants, roaches, bed bugs, and many other pests.

Looking for the perfect silver bullet to get rid of those pesky box elder bugs that seem to over take the sunny side of your building or home? Well I wish I could deliver, but I can't. This problem needs to be dealt with by good old fashioned elbow grease. Inside you need to vacuum them away, outside you need to spray them down with soapy water. Mix up a cup or two of cloths detergent in a gallon sprayer, lightly mix so not to get over run by suds, and spray away. Get them as they cluster in clumps and watch as they fall away dead. Good luck.

Termite elimination and control can be attained if you are equipped with the right tools, and Premise Foam is one of those tools.

I still say that termidor is one of the best products out there for termite elimination today. I still have fresh in my head the story I heard at a seminar when they said the termite job that was done on a home also killed the colony several yards away that was feeding on a fire wood pile. Good Stuff.

Box elder bugs are relentless in that they tend to come back year after year. It almost seems like all you can do is try to control them, rather than eliminate them. There is a product on the market called Box Elder B-Gone that is claiming to help you get rid of these pests. They claim to be safe and friendly to the environment. Definitely worth a look. Box Elder B-Gone.

Winter time means mice and one way to catch mice is with the use of glue traps. I always felt the best brand of mouse traps was catchmaster brand glue boards. Place them out in areas you think mice a re frequenting or will visit if they come in.

Traps for Japanese Beetles come in all shapes and sizes. They are fantastic to help control these pesky and destructive pests. One trap that comes to mind is the Tanglefoot Japanese Beetle trap. It is a four sided construction and it's yellow color attracts the beetles over. It is vented to allow the dead and rotting beetle smell to dissipate and not compete with the bait inside, a very important feature. This and any Japanese Beetle Trap can be found on any do it yourself pest control website. These websites are where you can find the products the professional pest control operators buy.

The mosquito magnet and other products like it have hit the market hard. You can get them online or even in your local Home Center. These products can be very expensive or relatively reasonable, depending on where you buy them and what area you are trying to cover, but there is no doubt about it, they work. The magnet attracts the mosquitoes in using the same gas your body throws off and once they get close enough it sucks them in. Of course they won't eliminate every mosquito in the city, but it will definitely knock down the population and make your outside pick nick more enjoyable.

When dealing with termite control it is wise to incorporate a few control measures into your attack. One product that has done well for people is Termite Granules. This product can be placed around fence posts...along the perimeter of a house...where rail road ties are used for gardening...things like that. Bayer has been a name trusted in termite control for a long time. Their granule system is a good tool to incorporate in my opinion. As always...read the label.

It's time for the red, orange and black bugs that are called box elder bugs to invade our homes and lives! These pesky bugs seems to be everywhere and when they make their way indoors many people panic. They are more damaging dead then alive. Mostly because people roll up a newspaper and squash them which leaves a red and black stain on the surface that is hard to take up. The best thing to do it simply suck them up with your vacuum hose. If you have a great deal of them outside then mix up some soapy hot water and spray them down. This should kill them. Good Luck.
Termite baits have been on the market long enough now to get a good idea of their effectiveness. One bait that seems to come up as a good producer of results is Advance Termite Bait from Whitmire. These baits are sold to professionals, but as always, if you look on the web you can most likely find a DIY website that has this product. I will have to say that I am an advocate of using professionals in termite control, but even if you had a professional come out you can at least request they use this bait in their control program.

Be sure to read the label and directions before use.

Ever wonder where professionals go to buy their pest control products? There are several distributors that only sell to professionals or require a license to buy product from. In fact, there are a few products that the state will require a license as it is a law. These products are called restricted use products. Things like mouse tracking powder is on this list. As far as distributors that will distribute only to professionals businesses like Univar USA and Residex come to mind. Many will sell to both professionals but won't turn away another business or person looking for product. Lesco is a company that sells to pest control companies as well as golf courses. Sub-distributors will sometimes sell to the public.

So you are afraid of having a rat swim up your soil pipe and make his way to your toilet. How would that be for a surprise on dark night when you lift the toilet lid! This is a problem that arises every so often, especially in old row homes that have toilets in their basements. There is a product that will work to exclude the rat from entering your toilet and it is called the Rat Guard, rat toilet excluder, or toilet flap. You snap it into the bottom of the toilet and it flaps down when you flush letting the waste leave the bowel and then flap up when the water fills back into the toilet, making it difficult for a rat to enter. They are hard to find these days, but if you scour the Internet I am sure you will come up with one.

What a great idea this is. The terror that overcomes a parent when they hear that their child has lice is incredible. It means a ton of work is ahead for them and the treatment of the hair is the biggest issue. You used to have to fumble with combs and products like Rid to kill the lice and you could never be sure if what you were looking at was actually a louse or not. All that craziness until now. The LiceGuard Robi Comb actually makes a humming sound as you comb through the child's hair and the humming stops when the comb encounters a louse. It then zaps the lice with an electrical impulse that kills the louse! How high tech is that! It sounds to me to be a fantastic way to deal with this problem that will be popping up since school has started. Get zapping!
The waspinator is an ingenious product that works to keep yellow jackets away by way of smoke and mirrors. The bees think there is a competitive hive and will stay away. They are actually afraid of getting attacked by the bees in the waspinator. What an idea!
