Snap-E- Mouse Trap Coovers

Great product to place snap traps in which allows you to place the covered traps in common areas like counter tops, cabinets, or along the walls safely without worrying about the mess of the snap or kids or pets getting snapped. Kness had a good idea here with the Snap-E Mouse trap covers.

Powder Trap

Here is a good trap against cluster flies...fits on the window sill, catching the flies and acting as quick sand. Flies in the winter become a problem in winter and the colder months in offices and homes and the powder trap seems to be a good tool in the battle against these cluster flies.

Humane mouse trap

The green bottle mouse trap has a cool product that uses old soda bottles and a devise that you attach to to the bottle cap area, allowing the mouse to enter the bottle, but not be able to get back out. This is a great green and humane way to catch mice. Not a bad idea the green bottle USA company came up with.

Ground Nesting Wasp Dust

Any kind of dust that control bees will work to kill ground nesting wasps and bees if inserted in and around the nesting hole. Apicide is a good choice as are others. Treatment of a ground nesting wasp hole is risky and should be handled by a professional.

NulliFly

Small flies are often drain or fruit flies. Here is one company that addresses these buggers with natural bacteria that eat away at the slime and grime that causes the breeding of these flies in the drains. They have a foam product that I think is one of the best ways to treat the drain as it expands and coats the drain walls where this slime builds up.

Kill boxelders dead

Looking for the perfect silver bullet to get rid of those pesky box elder bugs that seem to over take the sunny side of your building or home? Well I wish I could deliver, but I can't. This problem needs to be dealt with by good old fashioned elbow grease. Inside you need to vacuum them away, outside you need to spray them down with soapy water. Mix up a cup or two of cloths detergent in a gallon sprayer, lightly mix so not to get over run by suds, and spray away. Get them as they cluster in clumps and watch as they fall away dead. Good luck.

Coming to a termite swarm near you, Premise Foam Termiticide is a product to add to the tool box to get into voids where termites are suspected to be and traditional liquid termiticide can not help. The foam fills the void, coating the walls of the void, killing the termites. Use with a traditional treatment. As always use caution and follow the label for safety. Termite elimination and control can be attained if you are equipped with the right tools, and Premise Foam is one of those tools.

I still say that termidor is one of the best products out there for termite elimination today. I still have fresh in my head the story I heard at a seminar when they said the termite job that was done on a home also killed the colony several yards away that was feeding on a fire wood pile. Good Stuff.

Red and Black Bugs

It's time for the red, orange and black bugs that are called box elder bugs to invade our homes and lives! These pesky bugs seems to be everywhere and when they make their way indoors many people panic. They are more damaging dead then alive. Mostly because people roll up a newspaper and squash them which leaves a red and black stain on the surface that is hard to take up. The best thing to do it simply suck them up with your vacuum hose. If you have a great deal of them outside then mix up some soapy hot water and spray them down. This should kill them. Good Luck.

Termite baits have been on the market long enough now to get a good idea of their effectiveness. One bait that seems to come up as a good producer of results is Advance Termite Bait from Whitmire. These baits are sold to professionals, but as always, if you look on the web you can most likely find a DIY website that has this product. I will have to say that I am an advocate of using professionals in termite control, but even if you had a professional come out you can at least request they use this bait in their control program.

Pest control products distributors

Ever wonder where professionals go to buy their pest control products? There are several distributors that only sell to professionals or require a license to buy product from. In fact, there are a few products that the state will require a license as it is a law. These products are called restricted use products. Things like mouse tracking powder is on this list. As far as distributors that will distribute only to professionals businesses like Univar USA and Residex come to mind. Many will sell to both professionals but won't turn away another business or person looking for product. Lesco is a company that sells to pest control companies as well as golf courses. Sub-distributors will sometimes sell to the public.

RAT IN MY TOILET!

So you are afraid of having a rat swim up your soil pipe and make his way to your toilet. How would that be for a surprise on dark night when you lift the toilet lid! This is a problem that arises every so often, especially in old row homes that have toilets in their basements. There is a product that will work to exclude the rat from entering your toilet and it is called the Rat Guard, rat toilet excluder, or toilet flap. You snap it into the bottom of the toilet and it flaps down when you flush letting the waste leave the bowel and then flap up when the water fills back into the toilet, making it difficult for a rat to enter. They are hard to find these days, but if you scour the Internet I am sure you will come up with one.

LiceGuard Robi Comb

What a great idea this is. The terror that overcomes a parent when they hear that their child has lice is incredible. It means a ton of work is ahead for them and the treatment of the hair is the biggest issue. You used to have to fumble with combs and products like Rid to kill the lice and you could never be sure if what you were looking at was actually a louse or not. All that craziness until now. The LiceGuard Robi Comb actually makes a humming sound as you comb through the child's hair and the humming stops when the comb encounters a louse. It then zaps the lice with an electrical impulse that kills the louse! How high tech is that! It sounds to me to be a fantastic way to deal with this problem that will be popping up since school has started. Get zapping!

Waspinator

The waspinator is an ingenious product that works to keep yellow jackets away by way of smoke and mirrors. The bees think there is a competitive hive and will stay away. They are actually afraid of getting attacked by the bees in the waspinator. What an idea!

Talpirid Mole Bait

Moles can reek havoc on a person's lawn and there is nothing more frustrating than spending a lot of time and money on your lawn, only to have it ripped up by moles! Who are these creatures of destruction? They feed mostly on insects and love, love, love earthworms. Their appetite is incredible and their metabolism is super high. They are active all year which means they do not hibernate. They breed in late winter or early spring which means you can look for a boost in activity about 10 weeks later. They build tunnels like the English with a primary run, and exploratory run, and deep tunnels. Last but not least. They damage lawns. So how do get rid of them? Well there are all kinds of traps and devises you can uses, but lately there is a product being used by the professional pest controllers called Talpirid from Bell Laboratories. Ultrasonic Mouse Control

I've been asked about the plug in electronic mouse control products out there and what my opinion was on them. There is an example of the many types in the picture to the left. First off my advice would be that if you are going to invest in these for your home then choose the kind where you can change the frequency. Mice will adapt quickly to the high pitched sound and return again. With the ability to switch the frequency, the mice will not be able to adapt and will stay away. Research these a lot before you buy them and look into their warranty. I've heard both success stories and horror stories on this topic, so buy at your own risk.

Stuf-fit

Stuf-fit copper mesh goes by the name stuf-fit, stuffit, stuff it. No matter how you spell it this useful roll of mesh is a great weapon in your rodent proofing arsenal. Rodents are opportunistic creatures and if the hole is stuffed then it will most likely move on to the area of least resistance. Copper mesh won't rust like steel wool.
